About the Initiative - World Peace Board

The World Peace Board (WPB) is a high-level multilateral platform initiated jointly by the All India Sustainable Development Council (AISDC) and the Global Sustainable Council (GSC), United Kingdom.

The initiative is designed to create a structured, action-oriented global mechanism dedicated to advancing sustainable peace, preventive diplomacy, and cross-border cooperation.

With Geneva serving as the central coordination hub of global diplomacy, the World Peace Board aims to centralize strategic dialogue, policy innovation, and international collaboration under a unified framework.

World Peace Board

In an era marked by geopolitical shifts, climate risks, technological disruption, economic inequalities, and social polarization, traditional peace mechanisms require innovation and integration.

AISDC and GSC initiated the World Peace Board to:

• Bridge diplomacy with sustainable development frameworks • Integrate climate resilience and peacebuilding strategies • Create preventive dialogue platforms before conflict escalation • Foster cross-sector collaboration between governments and civil society • Promote peace innovation using technology and systems thinking • Establish a global coordination forum anchored in neutrality and multilateralism

Our organizations bring extensive global partnerships across multilateral institutions, sustainability networks, policy forums, and international development platforms. The World Peace Board is a natural evolution of this engagement.

Peace is Possible!

Get to Know Us

Each year, the International Day of Peace is observed around the world on 21 September, as a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, through observing 24 hours of non-violence and cease-fire. This year’s overarching theme is Act Now for a Peaceful World.

What does it take to choose hope over fear? To rebuild trust where it has been broken? To believe, again, that peace can take root even in the most fractured places?

Ahead of the International Day of Peace under the overarching theme of ‘Act Now for a Peaceful World’, Interpeace, the Geneva Peacebuilding Platform, and the United Nations Office at Geneva hosted the 13th edition of the Geneva PeaceTalks, demonstrating that ‘Peace is Possible’!

Why Matters

This year witnessed 9 unique speakers from all over the world and a musical performance in a spirit of unification to highlight how understanding, trust-building, and fostering respect between all of us is not just a shared responsibility—it is needed now, more than ever, to ensure a sustainable and inclusive peace.

The first PeaceTalks began in 2011 in Geneva, Switzerland, and has since expanded globally: 28 editions have taken place globally across 8 countries, bringing together more than 250 speakers from over 60 nationalities.

Now, more than ever, we need to see inspirational stories of peace, and personal testimonies to how peace is rooted in daily choices. (Add in something magic of peacetalks).

Beginning with a Welcome Statement by Director-General of the United Nations (UN) at Geneva, Ms. Tatiana Valovaya reaffirmed the role of the UN in preventing violence, upholding shared values of humanity, and promoting community resilience in the face of conflict. Ms. Valovaya offered a question to audience members, which helped to shape careful reflection during the PeaceTalks: what step will you take, today, or tomorrow …. for peace?

During the Geneva Peace Talks 2025 held at the United Nations Office at Geneva on 10 September 2025, the All India Sustainable Development Council (AISDC) participated as an official delegation to the event.

The conference concluded on a highly positive and forward-looking note, highlighted by an excellent and inspiring address delivered by Mr. Itonde Kakoma, President and CEO of Interpeace. His speech emphasized the importance of inclusive dialogue, preventive diplomacy, locally driven peace processes, and strengthening multilateral cooperation in a rapidly evolving global landscape.

Following the session, AISDC representatives had the opportunity to exchange thoughts and perspectives with Mr. Kakoma on global peacebuilding strategies and sustainable conflict resolution frameworks.

During the discussion, Mr. Vigil Kanethara, representing AISDC, emphasized that:

Indigenous Peoples possess strong traditional capacities for conflict resolution, community reconciliation, and consensus-based leadership models.

He highlighted the importance of ensuring that Indigenous voices are meaningfully included in global leadership discussions and peacebuilding platforms.

The exchange reaffirmed the shared commitment to:

  • Advancing SDG 16 – Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions

  • Strengthening Indigenous participation in global governance dialogues

  • Promoting community-led mediation approaches

  • Enhancing collaboration between peace institutions and sustainability platforms

AISDC’s presence at the Geneva Peace Talks reflects its continued engagement in global peace diplomacy, Indigenous rights advocacy, and multilateral sustainability discussions.

One of the most powerful reflections came from Jagan Chapagain, Secretary General of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC). In his address, he shared how moments of openness, curiosity, and even perceived naivety can lead to innovation, compassion, and meaningful peacebuilding.

According to Chapagain, peace begins when individuals dare to imagine that change is possible — and when local communities are empowered with the tools, trust, and dignity needed to build their own solutions. He emphasized that sustainable peace is not imposed; it is cultivated through humility, inclusion, and collective responsibility.

In a deeply moving vision, he invited the audience to imagine:

“Let’s imagine a world where the emblems of Red Cross and Red Crescent are no longer the symbols of emergency, but they are the symbols of enduring peace… where our ambulances stay idle, and our emergency centers are actually empty… because we collectively as a humanity have taken a different path.”

The Geneva Peace Talks reinforced AISDC’s commitment to advancing peace through sustainable development, climate resilience, inclusive governance, and multilateral cooperation — recognizing that lasting peace and sustainable progress are inseparable.
